Adak, in Turkish and Nadhar in Arabic, are religious practices in Islam in which one makes a vow to Allah swt. This vow commits one to a specific action and serves to strengthen faith in Allah and express gratitude.

Typically this is expressed through donations or offerings. It is a promise to Allah to do good, often by slaughtering an animal and distributing the meat to those in need.
