The emergence of a visionary humanitarian organisation
In 2019, after years of working with and supporting various NGOs, Mohamed Ajami and Muatasim Bouhouch realised that there was a lack of an alternative – a humanitarian organisation that not only works more transparently, but also offers a wide range of activities for diverse communities and provides aid in many countries at the same time.
They developed the vision of an organisation that focuses on both emergency aid and long-term projects and is active in both areas.
From a small idea big change grows
Driven by this vision and a clear idea of what they wanted to achieve, they were joined by other committed friends.
This is how the Swiss Barakah Charity was founded – in a small living room in Zürich Schwamendingen. From the very beginning, Swiss Barakah was characterised by a strong will, an unwavering commitment and a firm conviction to change the world. The founding members and their supporters brought a variety of skills and perspectives that enabled the organisation to act innovatively and effectively.
Global support and growth
Today, Swiss Barakah works in over 60 countries worldwide and provides aid wherever it is needed on a daily basis.
Whether in crisis areas or in long-term development projects – Swiss Barakah is there to provide support.
Although resources were limited at the beginning, the organisation managed to quickly establish structures and fully exploit its potential.
With increasing experience and the ability to respond flexibly to challenges, the team became more and more successful.
