Ein sicherer Ort zum Wachsen: Unser Psychosoziales Unterstützungszentrum für Kinder im Libanon

A Safe Place to Grow: Psychosocial Center for Children in Lebanon

News

A Safe Place to Grow A Safe Place to Grow: Psychosocial Center for Children in Lebanon Amidst the difficult social and economic situation in Lebanon, Swiss Barakah Charity has launched a project that brings hope, support, and perspective to children with intellectual disabilities. Our Psychosocial Support Center is a safe space where children are not only guided and encouraged but also strengthened in their dignity and individuality. Children with intellectual disabilities are among the most vulnerable groups in crisis regions. They often face exclusion, a lack of support, and overwhelming challenges within their families. This is precisely where our Psychosocial Support Center comes in: we provide individual care, therapeutic assistance, and opportunities for social participation. Our team of experienced psychotherapists, psychologists, educators, and trained volunteers creates an environment where children can gradually develop their abilities. Through creative methods, learning games, and daily life training, they actively advance their development. At the same time, they receive psychological support to reduce anxiety, build self-confidence, and gain emotional stability. This is complemented by therapeutic activities such as music, movement, and art therapy, which foster growth in a playful way and bring joy. An essential part of our work is also the involvement of families. Parents and relatives participate in information sessions, counseling, and practical workshops. They learn how to best support their children in everyday life and realize that they are not alone with their challenges. Shared celebrations, group activities, and family workshops strengthen bonds and create a sense of community. In this way, children not only receive individual support but also experience social integration – learning to communicate, build friendships, and participate actively. The progress we witness in our center is remarkable. Children who hardly spoke before are now beginning to use words and express their feelings. Families report a sense of relief and new hope in their daily lives. Parents feel strengthened by our support and develop closer bonds with their children. Meanwhile, the children gain confidence, independence, and joy in shared activities. At the same time, the project helps reduce stigma and raises awareness for inclusion within society. Our vision is clear: every child – regardless of their abilities – has the right to live with dignity, safety, and security. With the Psychosocial Support Center, we contribute to ensuring that children with intellectual disabilities in Lebanon can develop their potential and no longer stand on the margins of society. Equally important is strengthening their families so that hope and confidence can once again become part of their everyday lives. Donate now! With your donation, you can directly support the Psychosocial Support Center project in Lebanon – every contribution counts.

Blatten im Lötschental: Wir leisten erstmals Katastrophenhilfe in der Schweiz

Blatten in the Lötschental: For the first time, we provide disaster relief in Switzerland

News

Blatten in the Lötschental: For the first time, we provide disaster relief in Switzerland Blatten in the Lötschental Blatten in the Lötschental: For the first time, we provide disaster relief in Switzerland After the massive rockfall in Valais, Swiss Barakah Charity is supporting the evacuated village of Blatten with CHF 35,000 in emergency aid – a first in our humanitarian work. Hundreds of people have already donated. On Friday, May 30, 2025, huge masses of rock and ice thundered into the valley. A rockfall above Blatten (VS) triggered a massive debris avalanche that hit the village hard. People had to be brought to safety, houses were damaged, the entire Lötschental was in shock. In this exceptional situation, we quickly decided to act. For the first time, we are providing direct disaster relief in Switzerland: CHF 35,000 in emergency aid is available for affected families and the municipality of Blatten. The funds, coordinated with local partners, go into emergency shelters, material support, and initial reconstruction measures. Within just a few days, more than 900 individual donations have been received. This overwhelming solidarity shows: Even in Switzerland, our community can respond quickly and effectively when people are in need. Particularly encouraging is that the campaign has been widely recognized – also across denominational boundaries. Until now, our aid in Switzerland has focused on long-term social projects – food distributions, support for those in need. The step toward Blatten marks an important moment: When people in our country suddenly lose everything, we stand by their side. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this natural disaster. May our support be a small ray of hope – in a time when so much is slipping away.

Ehrung der Swiss Barakah Charity in Libanon

Honoring of Swiss Barakah Charity in Lebanon

News

Honoring of Swiss Barakah Charity in Lebanon Honoring of Swiss Barakah Charity in Lebanon Honoring of Swiss Barakah Charity in Lebanon On May 31, 2025, the organization Swiss Barakah Charity (SBC) was invited as an honorary guest to the graduation ceremony of Cadmous College in southern Lebanon. The invitation was made in recognition of the significant humanitarian work that SBC has been carrying out in the region for years. We are particularly known there for our commitment to humanitarian aid and social support. Cadmous College, a Christian educational institution with an interfaith character, traditionally honors outstanding individuals or institutions that have rendered exceptional service to the community. The school is characterized by respectful and inclusive interaction among students and staff of various religious backgrounds. The ceremony took place in a dignified setting. Among the attendees were representatives of various social groups, including the military commander in southern Lebanon, UNIFIL forces, Christian priests, Muslim imams, and local political figures. The symbolic presence of these diverse guests reflected the intercultural and interfaith spirit of the event. A deeply moving moment for us was the touching start of the ceremony, when church bells and the muezzin’s call to prayer rang out simultaneously. This powerful symbol of peaceful and respectful coexistence remains vividly in our memory. In his speech, Mohamad Ajami, CEO of Swiss Barakah Charity, emphasized the great importance of social responsibility. He directly addressed the graduating students, calling on them to actively stand up for their fellow human beings and take responsibility for society. Especially in times of global challenges, it is crucial to show solidarity and build bridges across cultural and religious boundaries. It was a great honor for us to be part of this moving and deeply inspiring celebration. We were especially impressed to see how the graduates look to the future with strength, courage, dreams, gratitude, and mindfulness. Their speeches were filled with hope and confidence—again and again, the sentence was heard: “Don’t be afraid of big dreams. You can achieve anything, nothing is impossible.” In a country marked by war and unrest, this message is far from a given. It is a sign of hope that is ever-present in the younger generation. SBC was praised in several speeches for its tireless efforts during times of crisis, particularly in Lebanon. We understand this honor as a sign of appreciation and an encouragement to continue our work in the service of humanity. Our participation in this ceremony once again highlights the bridge-building role that SBC plays between different communities and sends a strong message of cooperation, respect, and solidarity across cultural and religious boundaries.

Hoffnung schenken: Verteilung von Lebensmitteln und Schulrucksäcken in Malaysia

Giving Hope: Distribution of Food and School Backpacks in Malaysia

News

Giving Hope: Distribution of Food and School Backpacks in Malaysia Giving Hope Giving Hope: Distribution of Food and School Backpacks in Malaysia As part of the ongoing global humanitarian efforts by Swiss Barakah Charity, we carried out a successful distribution campaign in several communities in Malaysia. The aim was to support families in need with food supplies and bring joy to children by giving them new school backpacks. Living Conditions and Challenges Poverty has worsened in Malaysia in recent years, particularly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and rising living costs. Refugees are especially affected. Over 100,000 Rohingya refugees currently live in Malaysia, making up around 60% of all UNHCR-registered refugees and asylum seekers in the country. Most reside in Kuala Lumpur under precarious conditions without formal refugee status, education, healthcare, legal employment, or basic services. In addition to the Rohingya, Malaysia also hosts refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan, Iraq, Yemen, and Sri Lanka. These groups make up about 12% of the registered refugees. They too often lack legal status and rely on humanitarian aid. Food for Families in Need Due to the economic challenges many Malaysian families face, we put together aid packages with essential food items – rice, oil, flour, canned goods, and hygiene products – for both local people and refugees. Over 1,000 families in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur were reached through this campaign. Our team handed out the packages personally, with a focus on respectful and dignified treatment. We received warm welcomes; many locals took pictures with us. Numerous families expressed deep gratitude – this support makes a real difference in their daily lives. This gratitude is for you, dear donor. Backpacks for the Future Another focus was supporting children from low-income families. In collaboration with local communities, we distributed hundreds of high-quality backpacks filled with school supplies and hygiene products. For many children, it was the first time they had their own new backpack – a small step that greatly boosts motivation and self-esteem. The colorful backpacks lit up their faces with joy. In a small room used as a learning space for Rohingya children – lacking child-friendly facilities and with poor sanitation – such joy becomes especially meaningful because moments like these are so rare. Stronger Together This initiative would not have been possible without the generous support of our donors. Your donations had a direct impact and brought hope to many. We will continue to support disadvantaged communities in Malaysia – with heart, action, and a clear goal: a fairer world for all. Donate Now!Your donation makes a difference. Support education, protection, and social aid in Malaysia – every bit counts.
