Eröffnung des Bildungszentrums in Marokko

Opening of the education center in Morocco

News

Opening of the education center in Morocco Opening of the education center in Morocco Opening of the education center in Morocco The journey from Marrakech was long and arduous. Mountain roads centimetres away from the abyss, ankle-high water and stony stretches. We drive to Imindounit, which translates as the end of life, the end of the world. This is where the Amazigh village, which was badly damaged by the earthquake, is located – literally at the end of the world.Shortly before the last narrowing of the road between two mountains in the huge and majestic Atlas Mountains, we have to leave the smaller support vehicle of our two-man tandem behind. Some of our team have to walk 1.5 km from here. No one drives past by chance, the place is not on any route where you would accidentally end up and, to be honest, we wonder how it is even known that there are people here – people live so far away from the action. There, at the “end of the world”, Swiss Barakah Charity has opened a center – a place for education and social life. From now on, the Amazigh community’s center will provide children with tutoring and adults will be able to shape the social life of the village. In beautiful, clean, bright and cool rooms with sanitary conditions in keeping with human dignity. We are received in the Imindounit with dates and milk, with singing, food and an abundance of joy and gratitude. This expression of gratitude belongs to you, dear donor. You have thought of people in need and made life easier for many people far away with your donation. You can continue to help people in Morocco with your donation. Link here.

Hinter den Kulissen unserer Arbeit

Behind the scenes of our work

News

Behind the scenes of our work Behind the scenes of our work Behind the scenes of our work In the 5 years of the Swiss Barakah Charity’s existence, we have gained a lot of experience and now have a wealth of expertise in humanitarian work worldwide. Nevertheless, people, their living conditions and their needs are so different that we too are constantly faced with new situations and therefore new challenges. For example, the distances we have to travel to reach people in remote places around the world. The routes often go through mountains, with unsecured, steep precipices and deep ravines along the way. Our teams in the war prayers are exposed to constant, real danger to their lives. In earthquake or flood zones, where we usually arrive immediately after the disasters, our working environment is rubble and devastation. The psychological aspect is always there too, as our teams are very often in the face of death, loss, disease, abject poverty and suffering.Simple food distribution can also be a challenge. When it comes to pure survival, you can’t expect any consideration. And even the best organizational measures taken in advance can become obsolete under certain circumstances and require rapid, operational reorganization. We never know 100% exactly what the situation will be like on the ground and our teams have already experienced dangerous situations and had to react at lightning speed. As the saying goes, we grow with our challenges. Over the last few years, we have also grown a great deal with the challenges of our work. We have learned to plan even more precisely, more extensively and with more foresight in order to ensure the safety of our teams and to always preserve the dignity of the people receiving your donations.Despite great challenges, we are always aware of our mission – to help people who desperately need it – and we keep the focus on the positive aspects. Because a smile on people’s faces, a glimmer of hope in their eyes and relief in their hearts are worth every challenge.

Zakat- und Lebensmittelverteilung in Indien.

Zakat and food distribution in India

News

Zakat and food distribution in India Zakat and food distribution in India Education for children in SLUMS Your Zakat and numerous food parcels have reached the people of Mumbai. We are very happy to have helped so many people. Thanks to your donations, people were provided with the most necessary food for several weeks. For many families, this help is essential for survival. The emergency situation in India remains great. Several million people live in slums here. In Mumbai alone, there are over 1,000 slums with an estimated 5 million people. A large proportion of these are children. Living conditions there are extremely difficult due to a lack of infrastructure, sanitary facilities, limited access to healthcare and education, and child labor is widespread. Seeing the conditions on the ground takes its toll on us. Just like the smiles of the people living in these conditions. During our missions, we often ask ourselves whether we would still be able to smile under similar circumstances. Hardly. We learn joy and friendliness from people living in abject poverty. This cannot be taken for granted in a life with a difficult daily routine and no prospects for the future. Together, we want to continue to help improve the lives of people in India – both in their everyday lives by providing the necessary goods and in the long term by promoting education. Educational projects that offer today’s children prospects for a better tomorrow are already being planned. And even if the number of people in need is alarmingly high, every improved life counts. And every long-term improvement is multiplied by improving the living conditions of families and even communities. Donate for people in India. Link here.

Teilnahme der SBC an der Krankenhaus-Eröffnung in Jordanien mit dem König Abdullah II

SBC at Hospital Opening in Jordan with King Abdullah II

News

SBC at Hospital Opening in Jordan with King Abdullah II SBC’s Participation in the Hospital Opening in Jordan with King Abdullah II On February 27, 2025, Swiss Barakah Charity (SBC) was invited to the official opening of a new hospital in Jordan. The invitation was extended in recognition of our comprehensive support in equipping the oncology hospital with urgently needed medical equipment for cancer patients. The hospital in Aqaba is an important branch of the King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman, with which we have maintained a long-standing collaboration. The inauguration ceremony attracted significant public and media attention. Particularly outstanding was the participation of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, who personally inaugurated the oncology hospital. His presence highlighted the importance of the project for the country and honored international cooperation in the healthcare sector. Our organization was represented by CEO Mohamad Ajami, who had the opportunity during the event to tour the hospital and engage with local health experts as well as government officials. The official acknowledgment by the Jordanian authorities and the Royal Court represents a special appreciation of our commitment. Significance for Our Organization The invitation to the inauguration and the public recognition by the Jordanian Royal Court are a major milestone for our organization. They not only demonstrate the effectiveness of our humanitarian aid but also strengthen our position as a reliable partner in international healthcare. This event opens up new opportunities for future cooperation and strengthens our network in the region. Moreover, it motivates our staff and supporters, whose dedication makes such achievements possible in the first place. The successful project implementation in Jordan shows how targeted aid can bring about concrete and sustainable improvements in healthcare. We are proud to be part of this progress and extend our heartfelt thanks to all involved for their trust and collaboration.

School construction and educational scholarships in Sri Lanka

News

School construction and educational scholarships in Sri Lanka School construction and educational scholarships in Sri Lanka School construction and educational scholarships in Sri Lanka You can change the world with your own two hands” is written on the wall of a school in Sri Lanka where the children of fishing families learn. Trincomalee is located on the east coast of the country, directly on the Indian Ocean, where the 2004 tsunami mercilessly destroyed everything and took many lives with it. What happened 20 years ago is still omnipresent in people’s lives today and the damage caused by the disaster still has a major impact on the infrastructure, especially in remote regions. The schools in the fishing villages simply lack everything. A roof without walls serves as a primary school classroom, the schoolyards cannot be entered when it rains, and for many children of the fishing families, transportation to school is unfortunately unaffordable. Swiss Barakah Charity builds schools and renovates classes in this region. Beautiful, with walls painted a sunny yellow, with wooden school desks and windows looking out into the distance. Not only functional, but also visionary – for free, creative and happy childhoods. Swiss Barakah Charity also awards educational scholarships to pupils and students. The financial support relieves families of the costs of school transportation and school materials. SBC sews school uniforms and school bags in local tailoring workshops and provides pupils with bicycles for the journey to school. For Swiss Barakah Charity, education is an important investment in a better future that opens up opportunities and counteracts social inequality and poverty. “Be diligent, grow up and become strong so that you can later be the ones who change the world for the better and support others in the same way,” says SBC CEO Mohamad Ajami at the opening of the schools and the scholarship awards. The pupils continue to need classrooms, playgrounds, schoolyards that do not turn into impassable mud when it rains and educational scholarships that enable them to participate in the education system and have a better future. “You can change the world with your own two hands”. We firmly believe in this and want to give it a boost with your help. Let’s turn two into four. Let’s lend two helping hands so that the children there already have a better life now and can change the world with their own two hands in the long term. Donate for Sri Lanka (link here) Thank you for your support!

Neue Partnerschaft stärkt Hilfe im Nahen Osten: Swiss Barakah Charity und Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) bündeln Kräfte

New partnership strengthens aid in the Middle East: Swiss Barakah Charity and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) join forces

News

New partnership strengthens aid in the Middle East New partnership strengthens aid in the Middle East New partnership strengthens aid in the Middle East: Swiss Barakah Charity and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) join forces Swiss Barakah Charity and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) have formed a strategic partnership to make humanitarian aid in Jordan and the region more sustainable. The collaboration enables more direct assistance on the ground and better coordination in relief projects. Swiss Barakah Charity has already been working successfully with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) for some time. In March 2025, they jointly delivered 10 trucks with urgently needed relief supplies to Gaza: Swiss Barakah Charity provided the aid goods, while JHCO ensured safe access to the hard-to-reach area. The partnership has now been officially consolidated for future joint projects – a step that strengthens and professionalizes our humanitarian work in the Middle East. JHCO is a state-recognized aid organization based in Amman, Jordan. Founded in 1990, it coordinates humanitarian missions at home and abroad on behalf of the Jordanian government. Thanks to its long-standing experience and extensive local network, JHCO is a key player in regional emergency relief, particularly in supporting refugees from Syria, Palestine, and Iraq. “The institutionalization of this partnership is an important step for our work,” says Mohamad Ajami, CEO of Swiss Barakah Charity. “Through cooperation with JHCO, we can make our aid even more targeted and sustainable. Local partners understand the needs on the ground best.” The cooperation covers various areas of humanitarian aid: from supporting refugees to educational projects to emergency relief in crisis areas. Both organizations share the conviction that aid must be provided regardless of religion, origin, or political orientation. “We are looking forward to this partnership,” said a JHCO spokesperson. “Swiss Barakah Charity brings not only financial resources, but also a fresh perspective and innovative approaches to humanitarian work.”
